Domestic products are fundamentally ineffective because of their position as domestic products. The Ministry of the Environment takes pesticides, insecticides and herbicides very seriously and limits access to anyone without a Ministery license. The best you can get domestically is a cream for getting rid of crabs, but bed bugs. There is no cream for that. 

The only real domestic weapon you have against bed bugs is UV radiation, sadly a little UV key light is not enough. You will need the full power of the sun to kill bedbugs in a mattress. You can leave it out for 12 hours, flipping it every hour to confuse the bed bugs and that will be effective. But what about everything else in your home? Commercial-grade products are controlled and only licensed exterminators have access to them. They are split up into categories with certain exterminators having access to various chemicals all for specific purposes denoted by their license type. What is needed is a structural exterminator licensed to kill bed bugs. They will come to your home with a device to spray pesticides and a device to project very hot steam. Using these devices they will treat the house. Now bed bugs can be killed this way but their eggs cannot. To kill them off entirely a second visit for full retreatment must be organized. This second treatment will catch the bed bugs at a stage called nymph before they are capable of laying their eggs. This is effective and affordable compared to heat treatment.
